Our History

A History of Highly Technical Projects Worldwide

EA Founders

In 2006, managing partners Russell Kelly and Jim Gewinner (now retired) formed Energy Architecture to serve a single client, one of the world’s largest energy technology companies. The client needed architectural services for its entire real estate portfolio – including research laboratories, plants and manufacturing facilities, testing facilities, hazardous materials processing terminals, training and education centers, vehicle maintenance facilities, offices, and warehouses. Over the next 10 years, the client commissioned Energy Architecture to design $3+ billion worth of technical and complex projects around the globe.

Working so extensively in the energy industry strengthened our ability to intimately understand a wide range of highly technical projects. Walking in our clients’ shoes and learning the ins and outs of their business became the Energy Architecture modus operandi. Today Energy Architecture serves a broad range of relatable market sectors with similar technical challenges, including higher education, manufacturing, mission-critical, renewable energy, science and technology, and other unique markets.
