Rio Research and Technology Center is a 51,000 SF advanced applications engineering and research facility, located in the Technologic Park of the Federal University of Rio De Janeiro. Designed to be a showpiece for BHI to design develops and exhibit cutting edge research and innovative technology and houses the world’s largest high pressure drilling simulator. A cutting edge design was implemented to house the high tech research & development within. Careful thought was given to natural day lighting and to creating a collaborative work environment : without sacrificing safety and usability. The Lab designs and integrated MEP systems were organized to ensure a safe and creative work environment; environmental divisions were necessary to house hazardous and non-hazardous labs which include corrosives, H2S, cementing, physics, analytical labs, all of which carry their own life safety and environmental challenges.
